How to get the license for your movie night?
Movies are licensed by various companies, each representing different movie studios. Some movies may not be permitted for public viewing. While Event Resources is here to offer guidance, the licensing companies are the ultimate source of all the necessary information. To play a movie, you need a license. Even if it’s a free event to the public.
Information we need to know to provide you a cost is the following:
- How many guests do you expect? This will determine the screen size.
- The location of the event.
- Date and time of the event.
- Do you want popcorn?
- Confirm there is power onsite where we will be setting up.
- Confirm we are able to drive our vehicle within 100FT of the set up location.
FAQ’s
- What time can we start the movie?
- As soon as the sun sets. The sun is the challenge for the image from the projector to be seen.
- Can I play music before the movie or have a microphone to say something
- Yes! It helps if we know in advance.
- What size screen is best?
- The number of guests that are watching and the physical location will help us answer this for you.
- If I order popcorn but realize during the movie, more is needed, can we add more?
- Yes, we always bring extra and will adjust the cost accordingly after.
- What format is needed to play the movie?
- We are currently using DVD or Blue Ray. We are working on introducing other media player options- Stay tuned! Streaming posts challenges and risks of lowering the guest experience such as buffering or losing signal when the movie is playing! We are working on solutions.
- Do I have to bring anything on show day?
- Just the movie and your smiling face 🙂
- Will the weather cancel my event?
- It may. We look at the safety of your guests and the equipment. Rule of thumb is no wind speeds higher than 9 mph. Light rain is okay. We monitor the weather throughout the week but the techs onsite will let you know if there is a concern.
- If I need tables and chairs, can I rent them as well?
- Yes! We have plenty. Please mention it early in the planning process to make sure we have the right truck and team ready.
- How much power is needed?
- One circuit (15-20 amps) if it’s just the movie. A second separate circuit will be needed if there is popcorn since the machines draw a lot of power.
- Can the movie be inside?
- Yes! We have indoor and outdoor screen options available.
- How long is set up and strike?
- Usually about an hour. Each situation may be different.
- Is there an LED wall option?
- Yes, but we need to bring in a partner for this as we do not own LED walls. LED is amazing especially if your event is during the day, but it is significantly more expensive.
- How far do you offer your services?
- We can work with you in any part of the state of Connecticut.
- Should I tip the team working?
- We appreciate the thought but it’s a service we provide with no desire for a tip. Our company policy is to not accept them. But thank you if you were thinking of it!
- Is FunFlicks CT a franchise or owned by Event Resources?
- Event Resources is the parent company. Sole owner. FunFlicks is a national company and give us guidance when neeeded. But all decisions are 100% made by the owner of Event Resources.
